Thank you to everyone who participated! This is a huge batch of icons! For sure, this will be a two month job. Streams will tend to be in the evening, and provided FA is back up tomorrow, the first stream will be tomorrow! Since this is a big batch, thank you for your patience while I work on this at a sane pace in February and March. :) All of the icons will be posted when the batch is done, and in the meantime, be sure to check out the stream!

Everyone who tipped gets two icons plus the dragon icon, and every icon request that made it in before the cutoff will be drawn! If you missed this round, keep an eye on this journal for the next batch!

ETA - Things are off to a great start! Thanks very much for your participation! It's looking to me like this might potentially be a big batch of icons, so this is going to be a two month job. It is Icon Day! This will be the 21st time I've taken these requests and drawn many tiny pictures. You are invited to request a free icon, or to leave a tip. Tipping is not required. Don't worry if you're not tipping for whatever reason - the icon is a gift for you! If you do tip, you are sponsoring the work of a freelance artist, and it is appreciated.

If you request an icon, please link back to this post somewhere - on your lj or FA/DA page, your twitter, google+ or the social network of your choice! This is on the honor system, and not anything I'll be policing or grumping about if for whatever reason you don't want to do it. But, it helps me get the word out, so thank you for your help!

When you request, make sure you include a text description or link to a reference image of what you'd like me to draw. If you'd like, you can request your character with a specific theme, like springtime, steampunk, werebeast, hanging upsidedown, listening to music, etc. Please note that these take me at least a month to draw, so if you request a Valentine's Day theme, you'll be getting it well after Valentine's Day.

There are a few rules. In accordance with the regulations set forth by the Department for Redundancy Department, I'm trying to keep these short. If you have any questions about any of this, email me at coyotepuck@gmail.com.

1. One request per person. There is a tip incentive for a second and third icon, but the default is one. Also, one character per icon. Unfortunately, I can't let folks leave multiple requests for their friends. They'll need to leave their own request. If you'd like a matched set/couples' icon, leave a tip, or have your partner or friend also leave a request in reply to your request comment.

2. No fanart. No icons drawn of real actors/models/other living people who are not you. No WoW screenshots or characters, or other video-game based content. No icons of your character cosplaying or dressing as a character who belongs to a third party, unless you have permission. Your D&D and World Tree characters are fine, and I'll draw your character as a brightly colored tiny horse, but it will be in my style. Of course, icons of you or your pet are perfectly fine.

3. Keep your request and any and all images and text you link to ALL AGES APPROPRIATE. NO ANATOMICALLY CORRECT NUDITY. Barbie-doll nudity/Bugs Bunny "nudity" is fine. Please make sure the text you link to is free of adult content.

4. Keep your request simple. These are usually head shots or head-and-shoulders shots depicting simple expressions, poses and props. Very simple backgrounds like 'snow' or 'clouds' are fine, but more complex requests won't fit in a tiny icon. I draw these at 2"x2".

5. I reserve the right to alter any request to fit the rules and the constraints of this medium, up to and including drawing a cat in a fez.

6. The icons will not be mailed out to you. They will not be emailed to you. Sorry, there are simply too many, and I draw them all on big grids. They will be posted as a comment reply to your request here in this livejournal, and in a big batch post in my livejournal. Keep an eye on my journal, or bookmark your request comment. I post the icons when the icons are all done, not as each is completed.

7. You do not need a livejournal to leave a request. You can leave an anonymous comment.

8. If you tip, please leave a note in your request that you have done so. If you intend to tip, please update or reply to your request when you do, so that I know that you did and can make sure you get any tip incentive you're entitled to. If you don't leave a note in your request, I will not know that you get an extra icon, etc, and it won't get drawn.

The tip incentives for this round are:
$0 - every icon will be drawn in ink. Folks who tip get an icon in watercolor and ink.
$20 - My roommate and I had some tacos, and I'll be snagging some replacement brushes. Thanks!
$100 - Incentive reached! Somehow this line got deleted, but now all of the icons will be in watercolor and ink. Huzzah!
$300 - Incentive reached! folks who tip will get two icons. You can either request a second icon as a reply to your first request comment, or I will surprise you with something based on your first request.
$500 - Incentive reached! I will stream the progress on the icons again for this batch. The sessions will be on ustream, and announced in my livejournal.
$600 - Incentive reached! Folks who tip will get a third icon, of a dragon. I will be making up the dragons, though I might base them off your character, and you are welcome to leave suggestions like color and demeanor, etc.

Furthermore, if you would like one of the 3.5"x5.5" watercolor and ink pictures with a background - like this click here for an example - I'm offering those again, this round. A $30 tip gets you a picture based on a general prompt, like "a dragon in his treasure hoard" or "a cat chasing a tiny mouse-sparrow griffon." A $40 tip entitles you to this picture with the character and/or a more complicated scene description, of your choice. If you'd like either of these incentives, please say so in your request comment, and also send me an email containing your lj name, your mailing address, and what you'd like me to draw for you. These pieces will be matted and mailed out to you, after I finish the icon batch.

Requests will close when I wake up on Sunday morning. Leaving things open for a few days seemed to work out well, last time, and more folks who said they often miss getting a request in were able to snag a picture. I reserve the right to close down requests if I reach my limits, but don't worry! If you get a request in before the cutoff, your icon will be drawn.
