24-Hour Art Marathon

We are on a mission! My roommate Milo is getting a service dog, and I’d like to help him out.

This fundraiser’s goal is to raise 1,000 dollars to help offset the intial costs of getting the dog and supplies. Milo is on a fixed income, and has budgeted to meet his service dog’s continuing needs, but for someone in his financial situation, the initial costs are a not-insignificant amount, and this will help out a great deal. All of the money raised will be used for Milo’s dog and supplies, and if we have any extra, it will be donated to a service dog charity.

Milo’s Story: Milo is recovering from PTSD and agoraphobia. He is making awesome progress in his therapy, but is currently unable to go outside without my partner or I accompanying him. His service dog will help him to regain his independence, and support him as he continues to recover. You can read more about his story and how the service dog will help him out on our ChipIn page.

Fundraiser Festivities:

Participate in the Art Marathon!
My local artist friend, Puss In Boots, and I are going to be drawing LIVE AND ON THE INTERNET for your amusement and entertainment, for 24 hours. Stop in and see how we’re doing, chat to keep us awake, and get some art. Pictures we draw will be available for purchase, and if you’d like to get something custom made for you, ask us in the stream to find out how much to contribute. We won’t be taking larger commissions for anything that can’t be completed during the art marathon, but we’ll be doing drawings, and possibly art cards, buttons, and other fun stuff. We’ll see where this goes!
San, Arsen, Milo and myself (and my cats) will all be on the stream. They are grown-ups and I am not the boss of them, so bear in mind that the stream will be ~PG. The sound is on, and we’re working at the dinner table. The camera’s set up like it is for icon day streams, and I can move it around if you’d like, too!

Here is the link to the stream!

Fundraiser Sale
After the art marathon (and after we wake up!), I’ll be making a post full of lovely works of art and some other fun items, from myself and others, available for purchase to benefit this fundraiser! We have some neat stuff. It’ll be cool! You’ll have to wait to see what it is, though.

Donate to the ChipIn
I’m using ChipIn to take contributions for this fundraiser, and you can see our progress and leave a contribution by clicking on over there!

Here is a fancy progress-bar widget they have provided me:

Order things from Otis’s Wishlist
Milo set up a wishlist of dog supplies on Amazon, in case anyone wanted to contribute but didn’t feel comfortable donating money directly. Items were added with both cost and effectiveness in mind (i.e. he picked things he would purchase himself), and range from fun things like toys to training aids and service dog equipment.

We hope to see you in the ustream, and also hope you’ll pass on the word and help us help my friend Milo and his future dog buddy, by participating and linking back to this post.

I hope you do really well! I have anxiety issues and a dog who is not service trained, and even she is a huge help to me, so I can imagine a fully trained dog would be an amazing asset! Good luck Milo. :)

I've not forgot the art I promised. I just need the sun to come out to get a decent photo of it. >.> I'd also like to throw up for sale one custom pet portrait to go to the highest bidder if that's cool? :)

Sure! Email me with the details for that, and I can add it in the to the art-for-sale post after the art marathon! Thank you so much!

Good luck! I am much in the same boat financially, so I cannot donate, but please send my well wishes on! Service dogs are lifesavers!

You know I can't do the streaming thing, right? None of my computers seem to like it (and the work one HATES it). And I'm in a bit of a bind right now, financially, sigh.... but... if you still need some $$$ towards the expenses when this is over, and you're willing to do a small drawing like you would in the stream, I'll be happy to fork over $$ for it to go to getting Milo a dog. I have been finding that Kaylee, beast though she is, has been helping me feel much less depressed and anxious, and I know how much help that can be.

I thought I'd replied to this, but saw your comment on the for-sale post, and remembered I only read it and didn't actually reply. It's been a crazy past... day? Two days! XD
Anyway, there are many pictures from the art marathon I'll be posting up for grabs, and if you see something you like, let me know! I'm really sorry the streams don't work out for you. It would be fun to have you there. :(

Just to let you know I donated a tenner :) I hope it helps!

The Amazon Wishlist is not setup to ship to an address. :( I think you just have Bellingham WA in there. You need to fill it out completely, then you can hide the street deets from view, but that info has to be entered into the system somewheres in order for folks to have gifts shipped to you directly. Right now it's not coming up as an option.

Otherwise you could post the address here on LJ. Whatever works best for you guys. lmk so I can get this good karma outta my cart and into your home!

Thank you for letting us know! He is going to check it and try to fix it.
Toddjinni on May 16th, 2012 11:31 pm (UTC)
We've looked at it, and it looks like everything's in order to ship from the wishlist. Let me know if it still doesn't work? Sorry about that. :(

I did try to get on to watch the stream, but Ustream decided that it's "not available in [my] area due to rights restrictions."

Still, best of luck to you.

I dearly hope you all meet the goal. <3 I've been researching PSDs for years and I think they're a godsend to those who have them. I wish Milo all the luck in the world!

I have a friend with it. He's gotten better but when he lived here I had to watch our surrounding when we were out to make sure I helped him get ready for events (he was in an iraq bombing). Trash bags on the side of the road got him the worse, something so small to us is just... harsh to people who went through stuff like that.

I don't get paid until the 1st. Would you still be accepting donations for art then?

I'd be willing to throw $50 your way at that point if you can.
Toddjinni on May 18th, 2012 10:36 pm (UTC)
I can't take on any new work for the fundraiser at that point - I'm sorry about that. But, if you'd like to call dibs on any of the art I'm putting up from the art marathon, in the stuff-for-sale post, I can hold onto it for you.
Every Single Kind of Heromazz on May 18th, 2012 10:57 pm (UTC)
That works. i'll keep an eye out for the post.
